MISSING LINK C-05 SUNSTREAKER > REVIEW

Missing Link C-05 Sunstreaker is a masterful homage to the original 1980’s figure, combining nostalgic design with modern refinement.

From the moment you see the box, it’s clear this release is meant to evoke the vintage experience. The packaging features classic Takara branding, retro style grid backgrounds, and artwork that perfectly matches the original box art aesthetic. The window showcases the toy in vehicle mode, just like the G1 packaging. This attention to authenticity is a collector’s dream.
Upon opening the box, you’re greeted with a wealth of accessories. Included are multiple chrome weapons, the missile sprues, interchangeable hands, a humanoid pilot figure (a nod to the Diaclone origins), instruction sheet, sticker sheet, and collector card. Every piece is crisply molded and thoughtfully packed. The chrome weapons in particular are a highlight, shiny and true to the original design, but with a more durable finish. The additional fists and pilot add a layer of interactivity that elevates the figure beyond a simple remake.
In robot mode, Sunstreaker looks fantastic. The sculpting stays true to the original toy but improves on it with sharper details and the articulation. The paint application is precise, with clean lines, vibrant yellow plastic, and no blemishes. The black and red accents break up the colour in all the right places. Die-cast elements in the feet add heft and a premium feel, evoking the durability of vintage Transformers while improving balance and pose-ability.
Speaking of pose-ability, this is where the Missing Link line shines. Articulation is significantly improved from the original G1 figure. While the original Sunstreaker had limited movement, this updated version adds jointed elbows, shoulders, legs, knees, and ankles making it capable of expressive poses that were impossible in the 80s. All joints are tight and smooth, and the added articulation doesn’t detract from the classic look in either mode.
The vehicle mode is a thing of beauty. Sunstreaker transforms into a sleek, Lamborghini-inspired sports car, complete with his trademark rear engine air intakes. The proportions and transformation echo the original design, but the car now holds together better, with tighter seams and a more cohesive silhouette. The rubber tires, chrome engine, and panel detailing add realism. Paint is consistently well applied, and the tampographed markings are sharp. It rolls well, feels solid in hand, and displays wonderfully alongside other Missing Link or G1 figures.
Compared to the original 1980s Sunstreaker, this version is superior in every aspect, articulation, sculpt, accessory quality, and finish. It maintains the retro charm while adding features modern collectors expect. This is not a reinvention, but a respectful refinement that delivers both play-ability and nostalgia.
Overall, the Missing Link C-05 Sunstreaker is a triumph. It’s a lovingly crafted figure that bridges the gap between the past and present, offering the best of both worlds. Whether you're a longtime G1 fan or a newer collector, this is an essential addition to any Transformers collection. It’s a great item and absolutely worth purchasing.

And that’s about it. The rest you can gather from the photo’s or by heading over to Kapow Toys and buying one for yourself.

And with that, I’m out of here. I’ve been Edd, he's been Missing Link Sunstreaker and you’ve been awesome for spending a little time reading my ramblings.
