BADCUBE OTS-08 SUNSURGE > THE RE-ISSUED REVIEW

*This is a re-edited review that was originally published on the 2nd February 2016.

And God said “Let there be light” and there was light. The Sun shone so bright...
Okay, so a little dramatic with the introduction there but is Badcube's OTS 08 Sunsurge worthy of such gravitas ?

NEWAGE 44EX COMMANDER YMIR > REVIEW

I’m not a Legends scale collector, and truth be told I have no intentions of becoming one. However, that said, there was always going to be a few figures come along in this scale which would grab my attention and potentially make it onto my shelf.

ROBOT PARADISE RP-01 ACOUSTIC WAVE > REVIEW

Preamble

Christmas morning of 1984, tearing paper of off random boxes under the tree, unearthed the bestest Transformer toy of my childhood, Soundwave! Up until then I had a couple of Mini-Bots and the odd Go-Bot, but having Soundwave felt like I’d finally got a proper Transformer. For the longest time I kept his box, returning him to it every night after I’d finished playing with him…

Okay, so there’s obviously some big nostalgic shoes to fill here, and I know it’s not a G1 figure in the strictest sense, and we’ve had a Masterpiece Soundwave before from Takara. How’s Acoustic Wave going to compare? Let’s see what this unchrasimatic bore has to offer shall we.

FANS TOYS FT-25 OUTRIDER > REVIEW

Preamble

As the upgrade and replacement continues, next on the roster is Trailbreaker. I was late to the table with this one as I’m a fan of Mastermind Creations Terraegis. But with my Masterpiece collection slowly starting to become more cartoon orientated in aesthetic, I decided to put my hand in my pocket.

X-TRANSBOTS MX-27 JANSSEN > REVIEW

Preamble

Perceptor is a character that, if I’m honest, I’ve never really showed much interest in. I was aware of his inclusion in the Marvel UK comics, I never saw him in the cartoon as up until adulthood I’d never seen the Second Series and thought he was okay in the 1986 Movie. A side character of no major importance that was there to facilitate a move in the storyline. I became more familiar with the character during the IDW tenure, which was a hit an miss affair in my mind (the comic) but that’s something to go into another time.

FANS TOYS FT-47 RIG > REVIEW

Preamble

I’m now on my 3rd Masterpiece style Huffer, so is the swapping and upgrading game. Will this be the last? Who knows, I mean currently I hope it is but you never know what’s down the road. I don’t want to sound pessimistic about it, that would be too much like Huffer himself.

DEFORMATION SPACE DS-01 CRIMSON WINGS > REVIEW

Over the years I’ve owned many of the “Masterpiece” style Seekers, mainly of course the Holy Trinity of Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker. I have had some of the Coneheads but for now I don’t feel that any have rightly captured what it is I’m looking for in such a representation. This is all a bit of a pointless pre-amble as of now, I don’t own any of those previously mentioned figures, and so I’m left with Deformation Space and their Crimson Wings. And you know, I think I’ve finally settled…. I hope!

TAKARA MP-47 HOUND (KO) > REVIEW

I kind of made the decision that I would be passing on MP-47 when it was released. However somewhere in the back of my mind lurked the intention to maybe try pick up the KO when it finally surfaced. Surface it did but still I felt no great urgency to acquire it, especially as it was retailing at a price higher than I personally felt that a KO should do. Time passed and I moved on and my attentions were elsewhere… then one came available at a sensible price. That lurking intention swiftly made itself known, and so here we are.
