Packaging
The Skeleton Legion Builder 2 comes in a collector friendly
clam shell package, a signature for Legion Builders in the Mythic Legions line.
Unlike the standard boxed figures with elaborate bios and artwork, Legion
Builders opt for simplicity. The goal here is function over flair. The
clam shell is easily resealable, allowing collectors to access the figure
without damaging the packaging, a huge plus for display conscious collectors or
army builders.
The Figure
Right out of the package, the figure impresses. The skeletal
sculpt is lean and haunting, with just enough stylized exaggeration to keep it
rooted in high fantasy. The bones have a realistic matte finish, with subtle
dry brushing that brings out the sculpts intricate detail. It’s impossible to
look at this figure and not think of Ray Harryhausen’s iconic stop motion
skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts or The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. That
influence is clearly felt, both in the design and the eerie, cinematic realism
of the character.
As a Legion Builder, this figure is light on personalized
extras, but what it does include is highly versatile. You typically get a
medieval weapon load out, a sword, spear, and shield, as well as a range of
interchangeable hands. The real strength lies in the modular design. Each piece
can be swapped with parts from other Mythic Legions figures, allowing
collectors to create unique warriors or diversify their undead army.
Material Quality
Four Horsemen continues to set the bar for mid scale fantasy figures. The Skeleton Legion Builder 2 is made of durable, high quality plastic that doesn’t feel cheap or brittle. The joints are tight, but not overly stiff, perfect for posing without fear of breakage. Paint apps are minimal by design but effective, with subtle shading that enhances the bone texture and gives the figure a gritty, lived in feel.
Despite its skeletal structure, articulation is solid. You
get a standard range of movement: ball jointed head, swivel hinged shoulders,
elbows, hips, knees, and ankles. The figure can strike dynamic poses, from
charging into battle to eerie undead stances. While torso movement is limited
slightly by the rib cage construction, it’s a fair trade off for the visual
impact.
The Skeleton Legion Builder 2 is a fantastic representation
of everything that makes Mythic Legions such a beloved line. It’s atmospheric,
well constructed, and deeply respectful of the fantasy and cinematic traditions
that inspired it. Whether you're building a horde of the undead or customizing
your own legion of warriors, this figure delivers exceptional value and style.
Four Horsemen Studios continues to lead the charge in fantasy action figures, and this skeletal warrior is proof that the old bones of mythology still have plenty of life left in them.
