FOUR HORSEMEN: MYTHIC LEGIONS: CLAVIAN > REVIEW

Four Horsemen Studios have built a strong reputation with their Mythic Legions line, consistently delivering figures that combine fantasy themes, excellent sculpting, and impressive accessories. Clavian, one of the skeletal warriors in the line, is a standout example of what makes this series so beloved. From the moment you see the packaging to the figure itself in hand, Clavian feels like a carefully designed piece that embodies the craftsmanship of the Four Horsemen team.

Packaging and Presentation

The packaging follows the Mythic Legions standard: a collector friendly clamshell with bold, eye-catching artwork behind the figure. The logo is prominently displayed and gives off an otherworldly, heavy metal vibe that fits the line’s tone perfectly. One of the nice touches of Mythic Legions packaging is that it’s resealable, making it easy to display the figure both in and out of the box without damaging anything. While not overly elaborate compared to premium import brands, the presentation balances style and practicality very well.

Accessories

Clavian comes well equipped, which has become an expectation with Mythic Legions releases. The figure includes two swords, a shield emblazoned with a spider design, shoulder armour pieces, and additional attachment parts. The weapons are sculpted with fine detail, and the shield in particular stands out with its striking red paint and black emblem. The inclusion of both long and short swords provides posing variety, whether you want him dual wielding or defending with the shield.

Figure Design and Quality

The figure itself is a skeletal warrior with a red bone motif, clad in a dark grey armour. The sculpting is crisp, with fine details on the armour plating and gauntlets that catch the light beautifully. The red skull and bones make him visually striking compared to other skeletal figures in the line, giving Clavian a more sinister, demonic look. The plastic feels durable, with the articulation tight but not overly restrictive. The paint applications are clean, with no noticeable slop, and the metallic finish on the armour enhances the overall presence of the figure.

Comparison to Other Mythic Legions Figures

In the context of the wider Mythic Legions line, Clavian holds his own among other skeleton figures like Skapular or the Skeleton Legion Builders. What sets him apart is the unique colour scheme and the excellent accessory load-out. Four Horsemen have consistently raised the bar with each wave, and Clavian is another example of the variety they bring to the table, He’s not just another skeleton, but a character that can stand out in any display. His design complements both the more grounded medieval warriors and the more fantastical creatures of the line.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Excellent sculpting and paint applications

Strong accessory load-out (two swords, shield, modular armour)

Durable materials with solid articulation

Unique and eye-catching design that stands out among skeleton figures

Cons:

Some may find the red skeleton aesthetic a bit niche compared to more traditional bone colours

Limited availability and aftermarket pricing can make him harder to acquire, if attempting to source the original release.

Final Thoughts

Clavian is an outstanding addition to the Mythic Legions line. With his bold design, great accessory pack, and the high-quality craftsmanship Four Horsemen is known for. He is a figure that appeals not only to fans of skeleton warriors but also to collectors of fantasy and myth-inspired figures. If you enjoy mythical style figures with strong shelf presence, Clavian is a strong recommendation.
