WHAT'S NEW IN THE VAULT: SPOTLIGHT: MISSING LINK C-12 GRIMLOCK

Some characters simply belong to the history of Transformers, and Grimlock is undoubtedly one of them.

First appearing in 1984 as leader of the Dinobots, Grimlock quickly became one of the most recognisable characters in the Transformers cartoon. The toy followed in 1985 and had a wonderfully distinctive presence, transforming from a chunky robot into an equally chunky mechanical Tyrannosaurus, with all the charm and limitations that came with a toy designed in the early 1980's.

Missing Link C-12 Grimlock takes that familiar design and gives it the same treatment we've seen across the range, retaining the look and character of the original while introducing modern engineering, articulation and poseability.

Having spent some time with Grimlock, I was rather keen to get the camera out and see what he could do in front of the lens. There's something particularly satisfying about photographing a figure so familiar, yet being able to pose and present it in ways the original toy simply couldn't manage. Even if his understanding of dinosaur posture remains somewhat rooted in the 1970's.

With the video now available, it's time to give the photography its own little space.
